Special Council Meeting Monday

The City of South Pasadena has scheduled a special meeting 7 p.m. Monday at to discuss its stance on the 710 Freeway extension—as well as the possibility of revoking King Spa Massage's business license. 

Here is the slated agenda (also attached): 

• Roll call, Pledge of Allegiance
• Public comment: Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.3(a), members of the public will be provided with an opportunity to address any item described on the agenda only, at the time the matter is considered by the City Council.
• License revocation hearing pursuant to South Pasadena Municipal Code Section 18.35 - 18.38: King Spa Massage located at 1318 Huntington Drive
• Strategy regarding proposed SR-710 extension 
• Review Resolution No. 7172: City's official position on the SR-710 Freeway extension 
• Update regarding status of Senate Bill 204 

Revocation Hearing

Mengdong Wang, the owner of King Spa, and prostitution after an undercover investigation was conducted by South Pas Police in February.

Wang was also cited and convicted in 2010 for employing non-certificated massage technicians, according to a staff report.

While a hearing was originally set for March 7, City Council postponed it saying it first needed to build up a case, reported Pasadena Sun.

710 Freeway Extension 

With the city of to oppose some of the 710 Freeway extension alternatives, South Pas is taking steps to ensure the freeway doesn't end up in its yard. 

"We need to make sure they're not working to just eliminate their route and not eliminate the South Pasadena routes," Councilmember Philip Putnam said Wednesday, according to Pasadena Star-News.

"We want to be sure even if they eliminate those Avenue 64 routes that the people in other cities see the impact it would have on our city that it could have had on theirs."

South Pas transportation manager Dennis Woods told Patch Thursday: "The city council really wants to rediscuss how we might coordinate with surrounding cities." 

Senate Bill 204

State Sen. Carol Liu in June asking that Caltrans sell the homes it owns along the proposed 710 Freeway extension. 

This Thursday, the California State Auditor confirming Caltrans' mismanagement of those 345 homes in South Pas, Pasadena, Alhambra and L.A.
