Local Residents Host Japan Relief Concert Sunday Night

Mother and daughter duo Anne and Molly Dixon have been hard at work organizing a Japan tribute concert at Garfield Park.

While traveling to Japan with the California Maritime Academy seven years ago, South Pasadena resident Molly Dixon spent quality time with the Takase family, who lived in South Pas for a number of years before moving back to their hometown in 2003.

So it's no surprise that when the 8.9-magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit last month, Molly and her mother, Anne, were a bit shaken up.

"I was overwhelmed by the news that Japan not only suffered an earthquake but a tsunami and a nuclear threat on top of that," said Anne Dixon, who is a preschool teacher at . "I knew I wanted to do something."
