1. City Council meeting

Mark your calendars: The South Pasadena City Council is scheduled to meet today, Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the Amedee O. "Dick" Richards, Jr., Council Chambers at City Hall, 1424 Mission St., starting at 7:30 p.m. Results of the Nov. 5 General Municipal Election will be certified at the meeting and oaths of office administered to a number of newly elected officials, including Diana Mahmud, who will be replacing outgoing Councilmember Philip Putnam. A farewell will also be officially accorded to City Clerk Sally Kilby, who is stepping down after 13 years of service to the city.  Click here to view the meeting's agenda. Questions? 2. Farmers Market

Mark your calendars: The weekly South Pasadena Farmers Market will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, at and around the intersection of El Centro Street and Meridian from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. From fresh produce and flowers to food and entertainment, it’s the perfect way to kick start the weekend.

3. Holiday Book Sale

Have you kickstarted your shopping season yet? The South Pasadena Public Library has an excellent book sale underway. Every year, the Friends of the South Pasadena Library sets aside quality books suitable for gift-giving as part of the sale, which began Nov. 25 and ends Dec. 31. The books can be purchased as bargain prices during library hours.
