Family Storytime, Tax-Free Wines

1. Family Storytime

The South Pasadena Public Library will offer half an hour of storytime for children in a group setting tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the library's children's section from 7:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Perfectly timed for kids's short attention spans, the event features age-appropriate stories read aloud in addition to fingerplays, songs, flannelboard stories, book-related videos and crafts.

2. Mission Wines Tax-Free Tuesday

South Pasadena's only full-fledged wine store, Mission Wines, located on 1114 Mission St., will offer its typically delicious flight of wines today, Tuesday, Nov. 12, without charging sales tax. www.mission-wines.com. (626) 403-9463.


3. Public Works Commission meeting


Mark your calendars: The South Pasadena Public Works Commission is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, Nov. 13, starting at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located in City Hall at 1424 Mission St. Call (626) 403-7240 for further information.

4. Middle School Forum on Common Core Standards

Parents, mark your calendars: On Wednesday, Nov. 13, starting at 7 p.m., the South Pasadena Middle School is scheduled to present a forum about the Common Core Standards and its effect on the school's curriculum. Speakers will include Superintendent Joel Shapiro, Assistant Superintendent Steve Seaford and math coach Janet Bryson. The forum will immediately follow the PTA meeting and will be held in the SPMS Library.

5. Library Board of Trustees meeting

Mark your calendars: The Library Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet on Thursday, Nov. 14 starting at 7 p.m. in the Ray Bradbury Conference Room of the South Pasadena Public Library, located at 1100 Oxley St. The meeting is open to members of the public, who should enter the venue through the door on the Diamond Street balcony.
