A forum on water rates ahead of impending hikes in South Pasadena is scheduled today, Thursday, Jan. 9, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Amedee O. "Dick" Richards, Jr., Council Chambers at City Hall, 1424 Mission St. The forum is open to the public. Besides explaining why, when and by how much water rates are scheduled to increase for consumers, the forum is intended to be an opportunity for everyone to understand how the city generates and delivers drinking water, and what can be done to conserve this precious resource.

The forum will be followed on Saturday, Jan. 11 by a tour of the city's four water facilities. Starting at 9 a.m. from the parking lot at the corner of Mound Street and Hope Street near City Hall, the tour will allow residents to see for themselves the desperate state of the city's water infrastructure and why it's in need of urgent repairs. To RSVP for the tour, contact the Public Works Department at (626) 403-7240 or e-mail spwatertour@southpasadenaca.gov.
