1. Life of Thomas Paine
The acclaimed British-born, Los Angeles-based actor Ian Ruskin will bring founding father Thomas Paine of "Common Sense" fame to life in a play scheduled in the South Pasadena Library Community Room tonight on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. No tickets are required for the play, titled "To Begin the World Over Again: The Life of Thomas Paine." Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
2. SGV Council of Governments
The board of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, which represents 31 local governments, including South Pasadena, is scheduled to hold its monthly meeting today, Thursday, Oct. 17, starting at 6 p.m. at the Baldwin Park Senior Center, 4100 Baldwin Park Blvd., 91706, (626) 813-5245, ext. 323.
