Search for Shapiro's Successor, Common Core Standards

1. Community meeting to help search for new SPUSD superintendent 

A search firm hired by the SPUSD governing board to help find the successor to outgoing Superintendent Joel Shapiro is scheduled to conduct a brainstorming session with community members today, Wednesday, Nov. 13,  from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today in the District Office Board Room at the SPUSD headquarters, located at 1020 El Centro St. Click here to read more about the search and the qualities expected of the new superintendent as well as the critical issues facing the school district.

2. Public Works Commission meeting


The South Pasadena Public Works Commission is scheduled to meet today, Wednesday, Nov. 13, starting at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located in City Hall at 1424 Mission St. Call (626) 403-7240 for further information.

3. Middle School Forum on Common Core Standards

South Pasadena Middle School is scheduled to present a forum today, Wednesday, Nov. 13, starting at 7 p.m., about the Common Core Standards and its effect on the school's curriculum. Speakers will include Superintendent Joel Shapiro, Assistant Superintendent Steve Seaford, SPMS Principal David Kubela and math coach Janet Bryson. The forum will immediately follow the PTA meeting and will be held in the SPMS Library.

4. Library Board of Trustees meeting

Mark your calendars: The Library Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet on Thursday, Nov. 14 starting at 7 p.m. in the Ray Bradbury Conference Room of the South Pasadena Public Library, located at 1100 Oxley St. The meeting is open to members of the public, who should enter the venue through the door on the Diamond Street balcony. 

5. Farmers' Market

The weekly South Pasadena Farmers' Market will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, at and around the intersection of El Centro Street and Meridian from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come and get your fresh produce and other goodies for the week.
