William Holden Tribute, Measure S Meeting, Farmers' Market

1. Sunset Boulevard screening—and William Holden tribute

Mark your calendars: The Oscar-winning 1950 noir film Sunset Boulevard will be screened at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, at the South Pasadena Public Library Community Room, located at 1115 El Centro St. The film has a special place in South Pasadena history because its lead star, William Holden, grew up in South Pas and attended South Pasadena High School. 2. Preschool Storytime

3. Measure S Citizens' Oversight Committee meeting

The South Pasadena Unified School District is scheduled to host a meeting of the Measure S Citizens' Oversight Committee today, Thursday, Sept. 26, starting at 4 p.m. in the District Office Board Room of the SPUSD headquarters on 1020 El Centro St. Click here to read about Measure S, the 2009 parcel tax ballot measure that provides stable funding for South Pas schools in the absence of adequate state funding. The oversight committee periodically reviews if the SPUSD is spending Measure S funds as intended—to help prevent teacher layoffs, class size increases and cuts to libraries, arts, music and classroom academics. 4. Farmers' Market

The weekly South Pasadena Farmers' Market will unfold today, Thursday, Sept. 26, at and around the intersection of El Centro Street and Meridian from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Walk or drive over to get your produce and an assortment of goodies.
