The local Home Instead Senior Care® is offering free Alzheimer’s care training workshops for local residents who are caring for an aging parent or relative with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.
The complete workshop will be held over a period of two days—Thursday, November 1 and Thursday, November 15— at the San Rafael Branch of the Pasadena Library, 1240 Nithsdale Road, Pasadena, CA 91105. Each workshop will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Topics covered at the workshops include:
•Learning how to recognize the symptoms of dementia and how they are diagnosed
•Learning more about the challenging behaviors that may be displayed by those with dementia and techniques to help handle these behaviors
•Discovering various techniques to encourage a loved one who has dementia to engage in an activity
The Home Instead Senior Care network assembled the top experts in Alzheimer’s disease to develop the CARE approach (Changing Aging through Research and Education.) “We are very pleased to be able to provide these workshops to family caregivers,” says Ada Wong, owner of the Home Instead Senior Care office serving Pasadena, South Pasadena, Eagle Rock, La Canada and surrounding areas. “Until there is a cure, we offer an interim solution.”
Seating is limited. Deadline to register for the free workshop is October 30th. Please call (626) 486-0800 to reserve your spot. Light refreshments will be provided.
