The Shops at Montebello Launches "Music for Montebello" Performing Arts Program

Performers in schools located near Simon Property Group’s (NYSE: SPG) The Shops at Montebello should prep their dancing shoes, singing voices and monologues. The Shops at Montebello is encouraging local area schools to celebrate the arts with the launch of its “Music for Montebello” Performing Arts Program this May.

The Shops at Montebello will provide $250 “gift card grants” to local schools for each musical, dance and theatre performance held at the center, as a way to support arts education in the community. Schools may perform up to four unique times at The Shops at Montebello during the program.

“It is important to The Shops at Montebello to be involved in supporting our surrounding community,” said Marida Petitjean, Director of Marketing and Business Development at The Shops at Montebello. “Arts education plays a significant role in inspiring creativity and developing vital communities, and The Shops at Montebello is proud to support it in any way we can.”

Applications will be available at the Guest Services booth, located in Center Court, beginning Monday, May 12. In-mall performances will be booked between June 14 and December 21, based on a first-come, first-served basis.

All public and private K-12 schools from the following cities are invited to participate in The Shops at Montebello’s “Music for Montebello” program: Montebello, Rosemead, Monterey Park, Pico Rivera, Alhambra, Hacienda Heights, Whittier and El Monte.

School performances containing vocal, dance and theatrical elements should be between 30 minutes and two hours in length, and will be free and open to the public, taking place inside the center during mall hours, Monday through Sunday. The Shops at Montebello will determine final performance dates and times. Staging, an audio system and seating for guests will be provided for each performance.
