Community Continues to Share #RedBalloonsForRyan with South Pas Family

Ryan Cruz Saldana, 3, died on May 2. The hashtag #RedBalloonsForRyan, a social media memory of the little boy, has been used nearly 39,000 times on Instagram and reached more than 650,000 users on Twitter.

Families from across the world continued to share their love on Mother's Day with a local family who lost their son earlier this month. On Sunday, Instagram and Twitter users uploaded and shared photos tagged #redballoonsforryan—3-year-old Ryan Cruz Saldana, of South Pasadena, was struck by a truck on May 2 in Rancho Cucamonga. Red-haired Ryan was reportedly struck by a truck when chasing after a Frisbee.

“He loved his family. He loved Disneyland. He loved Ninja Turtles. He just really loved his family,” said Alissa Circle, a Saldana family friend told CBS Los Angeles.

A Go Fund Me account was set up several days ago for the family to cover funeral costs and loss of income during their time of grief. It's raised nearly $60,000.
