Expanded South Pasadena Moon Festival at Library Park

The Moon Festival is growing in size and has added more attractions for Saturday's event.

The annual Moon Festival offers a variety of entertainment and activities: juggling, lion dancers, dragon beard candy making, storytelling, an acrobat, Chinese food, contests, Kids’ Korner, and an appearance by Miss Chinatown and her court.  A “Year of the Dragon” chalk-drawing contest will take place in a sectioned-off area of the sidewalk at the site.

Marengo Elementary School teacher and South Pasadena High School graduate Allen Lin is the Master of Ceremonies, and author of children’s and young adult books Lisa Yee will be on hand to sign her books, which will be available for sale.

The event is held at Library Park in front of the Library Community Room on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.  This year, it has expanded to the school district frontage and El Centro Street will be closed.  Entertainment is free. Food trucks will offer Asian food, and specialty snacks are available for a charge. Some activities charge a nominal fee.
