Metro to Repair Gold Line Saturday Night

Attention residents and business owners in the vicinity of Gold Line crossings at Orange Grove and Indiana Avenue.

On the night of Saturday July 23, Metro will conduct necessary and important repairs on the Metro Gold Line.

Specific locations affected will include crossings between Orange Grove and Indiana Avenue. The work is planned to commence at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday and conclude before 4 a.m. Sunday, according to Metro.

The nature of work Saturday will involve replacing a section of worn rail, which requires cutting existing rail, removing it, fitting-in and welding new rail in its place. Following the welding, the new rail is ground down to match the profile of the adjacent track. High-powered machinery will be used in the immediate vicinity.

The Gold Line has been in service since 2003; this type of activity is common in the good maintenance of an operating system, according to Metro. The railway work is conducted on weekend nights so service can be preserved at peak times.

Metro apologizes for this inconvenience and appreciates understanding and cooperation. For information, contact (323) 563-5022.
