Photo Gallery: Tree Lighting Marks Official Start of Holiday Season

Annual South Pas holiday tradition continued on Thursday night with a Christmas tree lighting, photos with Santa and other festivities next to the South Pasadena Historical Museum.

Mayor Mike Ten switched on the lights of the official South Pasadena Christmas Tree Thursday evening, as community leaders, local residents and Santa Claus joined in the annual holiday festivities.

The sounds of holiday songs from the ,  and the  filled the air around the and shoppers enjoyed discounts and holiday treats at many of the locally-owned shops on Mission Ave.

The living Christmas tree will be on view throughout December and the will donate it to the city, where it will be planted permanently in a different location. Santa will continue to pose for pictures at the  on Thursday nights this month.
