Police are Looking for Hit-and-Run Driver Who Abandoned the Vehicle

The man crashed into a telephone pole and fled the scene, according to South Pasadena Police.

A man who careened his car into a telephone pole left his crunched vehicle at the scene and fled on foot, authorities said.

The accident occurred late Saturday night at Meridian Avenue and Maple Street, but no one reported it until 8:17 a.m. Sunday, said South Pasadena Police Sgt. Brian Solinksy.

A neighbor reported hearing a smash. When police investigated they found "major damage'' to the right side of the car, a 2000 Mazda Miata, but the telephone pole seemed unscathed, he said, noting the accident caused no electrical outages.
