Police Search For Prowler Who Fled After Being Spotted

A large police presence was established to find the prowler, but the man disappeared.

Officers from surrounding agencies aided in a search for a man accused of prowling around a home Friday night.

The prowler walked into an unlocked terrace to a home in the 1000 block of Highland Street. The resident was home at the time. The suspect became startled and took off. Police spent the better part of two hours searching, but could not find the man, said Corporal Matthew Ronnie of South Pasadena Police.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. The prowler reportedly entered through the rear yard of the location and began making his way into the home through a terrace area, Ronnie said.

Once startled, the man ran south towards Buena Vista Street. South Pasadena officers were helped by Pomona and Pasadena police helicopters, Pasadena Police officers and a K-9 unit, Alhambra Police and San Marino Police, Ronnie said.

Authorities were unable to locate the man.

The prowler was described as a male white, 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing all black and had a bandana covering his face. He also wore a dark hat and carried a backpack, Ronnie said.
