South Pas Girl Scouts are Helping You Prepare for the Worst

The girls from Troop 3311 are working toward their Silver Award. Here's their story, in their own words.

Our Girl Scout troop, South Pasadena Girl Scout Troop 3311, has been together since we were Brownies and now we are Cadettes working towards our Silver Award, the highest honor a Girl Scout Cadette can earn.

In order to successfully complete this goal, our troop had to organize and execute a community-based project. We want our community to be prepared in the event of a natural disaster, so we decided to assemble disaster preparedness kits. After all, a natural disaster can strike at any time (like the wind storms in December 2011) and being prepared is priceless.

This kit includes a flashlight, AM/FM radio, poncho, first aid kit, emergency blanket and more and is only priced at $50!  With all of these supplies, no disaster can stand in your way.

They will be sold from now through June 3rd. To help our community out even more, all of the proceeds will be split among the five SPUSD schools, to be put into their Disaster Preparedness Funds.

Troop members include: Lauren Sharkey, Sophia Ismail, Haley VerKuilen, Olivia Nouriani, Emily Gin, Chloe Howorth, Harper Fox, Sarah Ohta and Mary Harmon.
