This Woman Makes it Easy to Workout

Estelle Underwood of BodyWorks for Total Health brings you out of your turkey haze.

Working out doesn’t have to be a big commitment, according to Fitness Instructor Estelle Underwood, who owns BodyWorks for Total Health in South Pas.

“A lot of people get really busy and chuck the idea of exercise, especially during the holidays,” she explains.

“But what people need to know … you don’t have to do [all your exercise] in one chunk. You can break it up.”

The former gymnast says it’s important to do 30 to 40 minutes of cardio vascular five to seven days a week in addition to about 20 minutes of strength training two to three times a week.

While this may seem like a lot, she encourages her clients to split it up with enjoyable activities throughout the day— from walking to biking—creating a “cumulative effect.”

Inspired by a Local

It was Managing Director of Lissa Reynolds' busy schedule that inspired Underwood to create her latest workout product. (Estelle runs her private studio out of the Fremont Centre.)

They’re called BodyWorks Bands and each has 11 easy exercise demonstrations printed to one side of the latex—making it convenient for her clients looking for an on-the-go workout, she says.

“[All exercises] literally take someone no more than 15 minutes to do,” said Underwood.

Now, there's no excuse—says Underwood—to not work out.

[Lissa Reynolds] travels a lot during the holidays to entertain soldiers overseas,” she continued. “So she always takes the latex band with her.”

"I believe we can all make time for this," she said. “ ... And the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn all day long.”

Underwood has owned Bodyworks for Total Health for more than 20 years. Read her bio here and learn more about her BodyWorks Bands here.
