After several years of holding more casual annual fundraisers, SPCC President Jessica Yee said that in response to popular demand, the Club is again hosting an opportunity for SPCC supporters to dress up, party, and raise money for SPCC, the organization that the local Rotary Club chose for its “Service above Self” award in 2010.

“We know people love to get dressed up and attend a special evening,” President Jessica Yee said. “This will provide our parents and supporters with an enjoyable evening while at the same time contributing to an extremely worthwhile community asset.”

Guests will feast on a three-course dinner; dance to a live band—Rogers and Friends; be entertained by the SPHS Jazz Band and Tai Chi performers; take part in drawings for an exquisite precious-stone necklace, Disneyland tickets, an Amazon Kindle Fire and Apple pad; and other prizes, and enjoy an evening with family and friends.

All the school principals are attending, Yee said, along with School Board Members, Superintendent Joel Shapiro, and District administrators; Linda Wah, Pasadena Community College District Area 5 Board Member; Michael Cacciotti, Mayor; Gary Pia, City Treasurer; and Councilmembers; Police Chief Joe Payne; and other City Officials and civic leaders.

Some of the programs that have been funded recently by SPCC are Math Field Day; transportation for high school students to visit the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana to see the life-size terra cotta warriors, protectors of China’s first emperor; cameras and projection equipment for school classrooms; playground equipment; and special school programs, including “Poetry Power,” and math, science, and language instructional supplies and games. The Club is a sponsor of the upcoming South Pasadena Relay For Life, and Club volunteers serve the homeless a Chinese dinner monthly at Union Station in Pasadena.

Tickets to the event are $100 per person, and SPCC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, with net proceeds donated to the local community. To make a reservation, contact Estela Cheng at 323-255-6888 or email her at chengestela@gmail.com. The SPCC address is P.O. Box 3391, South Pasadena, CA 91031.
