Billy Childs To Headline Eclectic Music Festival

The festival will feature over forty musical artists playing at venues throughout the city, all for free.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year with music and familiar faces at the annual Eclectic Music Festival & Art Walk from 5 to 10 p.m. May 5. 

The festival will feature over forty musical artists—including Grammy-winning pianist Billy Childs—playing at venues throughout the city. 

The best part: It's free.

There will be sounds from regions around the world including Latin rhythms, Celtic rock riffs and Americana bluegrass harmonies. 

Attendees can also stroll through the historic business district, and sample gourmet treats from some of L.A.’s finest food trucks along the gallery loop, which will consist of many exhibitions and open houses.

Plus, the Artmobile shuttle will be available to drive people around to various stages and galleries starting at the Gold Line Mission Station. 

Here's a preview of the music line-up: 

The Gold Line Stage (:

  • The Young Dubliners—A Celtic rock band that has toured internationally. Seamlessly blending their rock and Celtic influences into a high energy and lyrically poignant mix, the band jumps energetically from ballad to barn-burner, from edgy political tunes to the travails of life on the road.
  • Roger Espinoza—A Rumba Flamenco Guitar virtuoso.
  • Kara Grainger—A blues artist.

Carnegie Stage (): 

  • Childs is a South Pas resident and three-time GRAMMY®-winning pianist composer who just released the compelling album: Autumn: In Moving Pictures
  • Los Angeles Clarinet Choir and Rick Shea—A talented songwriter whose songs embrace everything from folk and country music to norteño and border rock. Shea is a longtime Southern California singer and guitarist who’s worked alongside everyone from Dave Alvin and Los Lobos to REM.

The Eclectic Stage ():

  • Susie Glaze and the Hilonesome Band—A newgrass Americana folk fusion quintet.
  • Kait Dunton—A jazz pianist.
  • Mexika—Latins sounds. 

BurkeTriolo Studio ():

  • Torches in Trees—Just back from SXSW, the acclaimed indie music festival in Austin Texas.
