MUSIC UNDER THE STARS: Free Pasadena Symphony Concert

The Pasadena Symphony and POPS FREE present a free, annual family concert –

MUSIC UNDER THE STARS is back at the newly renovated Pasadena City Hall Centennial Square on Saturday, September 24 at 7:30 pm through the generous support of Bank of America. Bringing Broadway royalty to our city hall, this concert features selections from the Sound of Music, Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, My Fair Lady and more to close the summer’s festivities honoring Pasadena’s 125th anniversary.

Three-time Tony Award nominated conductor Larry Blank leads the orchestra and his “Broadway Babies” Lisa Vroman, Christina Saffran and Norman Large as they travel from the Great White Way to the City of Roses along with the Donald Brinegar Singers.

“Music Under the Stars is a fun outdoor music celebration for the entire region,” stated Paul Jan Zdunek, Chief Executive Officer of the Pasadena Symphony Association. “This is our opportunity to give back to the community thanks to the leadership support of Bank of America as well as Target and the City of Pasadena!.”

The family fun begins at 5:30 pm with pre-concert activities and food presented with support from Target. Southern California’s most vibrant children’s entertainer Jamie Shaheen will lead an interactive piano performance with sing- and dance-along celebrations. Families can explore the instruments of the orchestra with an
instrument “petting zoo” where youngsters can toot flutes, blow trumpets, pluck strings and bang on percussion. Pasadena High School Navy JROTC Unit will perform
a presentation of the flag. Pie N Burger, Lobsta Truck, Let’s Roll It and other local food trucks will be onsite selling delectable treats.
