The Telephone/The Human Voice

"Comedy or Tragedy: It All Depends on Who's Calling!"

Lyric Opera of Los Angeles is proud to present 2 one-act operas together on one program for an extended run at the beautiful and intimate Fremont Centre Theatre in South Pasadena, CA.

Spend an evening listening in on Lucy's most private conversations, starting wiht her escapades in Menotti's "The Telephone", while Ben tries to get her attention to ask her a very important question; and then during Poulenc's "The Human Voice" as she plunges into despair on the telephone with her former lover the night before he is to be married.

Amanda McAllister & Laura Sage, sopranos, alternate performances as Lucy. Baritones Eric Carampatan and Jay Stephenson share the role of Ben. Musical Director Robert Sageaccompanies at the piano, and stage direction is by Aleta Braxton.
