Grass Fire, Downed Power Lines Reported in South Pasadena

Unknown number of residents and businesses affected.

A power outage was reported in town early Sunday morning.

Officers on patrol discovered downed wires on Arroyo Drive around 1:42 a.m. and observed a brush fire close by the Interstate 110 freeway, police said. A downed tree at appeared to be the cause of the downed wires.

A brush fire was reported by the California Highway Patrol on the right shoulder near York Blvd., possibly caused by the downed wires. The No. 1 lane was closed by the CHP while fire fighters extinguished the blaze, according to CHP traffic logs.

Officers observed outages near Grand Avenue and Mission Street, Orange Grove Avenue and Magnolia Street, as well as along Arroyo.

The brush fire was extinguished around 2:15 a.m., according to . How many acres burned was not divulged.

Crews with Southern California Edison arrived on scene shortly, according to Police.
