Wanted Suspects in Stolen Vehicle Evade Police, Leave Behind ID

A man and woman, driving a stolen car, ditched the vehicle after a short pursuit with South Pasadena Police, authorities say.

A man who stole hundreds of dollars worth of liquor from Bristol Farms, jumped into a stolen car and led South Pasadena Police on a short chase, before abandoning the vehicle and leaving behind his and another suspect's identification, authorities said.

Police are looking for both suspects, who have felony warrants out for their arrest stemming from other crimes, said Sgt. Mike Neff.

"They got away, but just for now,'' he said Sunday.

Police received a call just after 1:30 p.m. Saturday that there was a shoplifting in progress at Bristol Farms. When officers arrived, the male suspect dashed to the waiting car, a 1996 Honda Accord that had been reported stolen, and took off with the swiped liquor, Neff said. Officers pursued the car through traffic, then found it abandoned in the 300 block of Garfield Road, behind Blair High School.

In the car police found all $326 worth of the stolen goods, as well as information on both suspects, Neff said. Officers will file arrest warrants for each of them, he said.
