New Affordable Eating Programs at South Pas Farmers Market

Eligible shoppers can now take advantage of CalFresh, Women, Infants & Children (WIC) and the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).

The has recently implemented three nutritional assistance programs for affordable, healthy eating: CalFresh, Women, Infants & Children (WIC) and the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).

  • CalFresh (formerly SNAP, aka Food Stamps): Now eligible shoppers can use their Golden State Advantage EBT Card to access CalFresh benefits year-round. To get started, shoppers should visit the information booth and slide their card through the point-of-sale device. Note: This is only valid with some farmers and vendors at the market.   • WIC (Women, Infants & Children): The market now accepts seasonal Farmers Market Nutrition Program WIC coupons. With these coupons, low-income families can purchase fruits and vegetables directly from farmers your-round. For more on the program, click here. For more on the program, click here. 
  • The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP): SFMNP is a seasonal assistance program aimed at increasing accessibility and consumption of fresh produce by low-income seniors. In California, the SFMNP begins in May and runs through the end of November. Federally funded, it provides seniors with check booklets that can be used to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, honey and herbs. The operates the Certified Farmers’ Market under a contract with the City of South Pasadena. The is open every Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. (Closed Thanksgiving; winter hours 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.)
