Photos: Firemen Save Kitten Who Rode Beneath Car Hood for 15 Miles

The kitten was a little cranky, but was, in fact, alive.

Thursday: It started with some intense meowing coming from a car parked in the Dinosaur Farm parking lot on Wednesday.

Curious, customers and employees of the South Pas store traced the mews to beneath the hood of a car whose driver had come from Sunland - some 15 miles away, according to the Dinosaur Farm's Facebook page. Enter the South Pasadena Fire Department.

"Firemen worked for a while to try and get to him, but were having no luck,'' the post reads. And then, having successfully jacked up the car, firefighters were able to reach in and grab the little guy.

"He was NOT a happy camper, but he was alive and unhurt - after hitching a ride from Sunland to South Pas under the hood. Free at last!'' the Facebook post reads.

Kelly Kidd from Kidd's Jewelry Heist heard the animal crying about 11 a.m. and looked all over parking lot. He looked in car windows and left notes on several vehicles, but some of the cars drove away. The meows continued. Finally, he decided to call the fire department.

"The cat was so beautiful, grey with blue eyes. I just hope [someone adopts her],'' Kidd said Thursday.

Dinosaur Farm employee Josh Rodriguez still can't believe the little kitten survived the trip.

"Imagine if no one had heard that, and the lady just kept driving,'' said

The kitten was taken to the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA, according to the Facebook post.
