The South Pas favorite wrangled in 978 votes, 27 comments and 16 reviews in just seven days.

has acquired quite the following since it opened in South Pas six years ago.

So much so that owners Steve and Jamie Inzunza were approached by a customer to open up a second location.

"A person came in and said, 'Here's an address for you to look at,'" said Steve of their new pizza place, which opened three weeks ago at 311 South Rosemead Boulevard in Pasadena.

With such a loyal fan base, it only makes sense that Mamma's was the winner of Patch's when up against two other local restaurants. The South Pas favorite and in just seven days.

"We like being involved in the community," said Jamie.

For every dollar spent at the South Pas business, 1/3 of that goes back into the local community. All of Mamma’s products—from promotional T-shirts to ingredients for the pizzas—are sourced locally.

"We love the comradary in South Pasadena," said Steve. "We have become a fabric of the community..."

Jamie interjects, "You know, people say all the time, 'The only thing we don't do in South Pas is sleep.'"

Mamma's makes all of its pizzas to order; its menu also features a slew of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pizza rolls, calzones and pastas, including gluten free options. Their most popular items? The Brick Oven Special and Roma pizza.

As for how they got into the food business: "We have a big family and it seemed like everyone was at our house all the time," said Steve.

Jamie had experience in the industry since her family had been in the wholesale food business, so the couple bought the Mamma's, which had already been in business for about 8 months. "[Our plan was] to expland [the existing location] and grow it and build our menu into what it is today," said Jamie.

With a background in social services, Jamie says she and her husband look to instill a sense of leadership in their employees—many of whom are students in and around the community.

"What we like to focus on—usually with young people—is sometimes with their first time, they don't really know what to do or how to behave ... and we usually take that, see what we see in them and build it from there."
