Shop Local: Chuck's Appliance Service Inc. (Video)

A quest to profile every business in town. This week we talk to an appliance store with superior service.

Scott Fraser bends over backwards for his customers. Literally.

"I have broad shoulders and am long-armed," the owner of  said. "I find myself twisting and turning a lot."

The showroom of Chuck's is lined with vintage stoves, washers and dryers, dishwashers and refrigerators. The business specializes in vintage stove repairs but sells and services all major appliances.

"We are a small company, but we do the right thing," Fraser said one morning in May.

He prides himself and his staff on communication—coordinating convenient times of service between his technicians and his customers. While Chuck's has been around since 1942, Fraser's father, Stan, bought the business in 1950.

Fraser worked in the store a few times but it wasn't until 1983 that he showed real interest and bought the store from his father.

"I was scared to death to buy the building," said Fraser. "But everything fell into place."

And more than twenty years later, he says his business is still thriving. Check out our video for more history on Chuck's.
