Here's Where the Adults Hang

Looking for an adult-only event? Here's where your neighbors said they go to get away from the kids.

Would you like to see more adult hang-out spots in town? Where do adults or, more specifically, singles go to get away from the kids?

Here's what people had to say:

We like the bar at

Highland Park

The only place I have met cool single men in Sopas is at Let's hope for some other places, maybe one that's not a bar.

I think does a good job of being a space that's friendly to families with young kids but also friendly to childless adults.

Although Charlies Trio is technically in Alhambra, there is a lively crowd of SouthPas folks that hangs out there. Thinking beyond partying at bars though, one could always go for a walk in the Arroyo or go to the farmers market with friends.

The bar at the looks promising for watching sports...

As for what people would like to see more of around town, here's what one reader wrote:

I'd love a nice quiet smoke-free café where neither the adults nor children were creating a cafeteria-level amount of noise. There's a great pub in Berkeley that has a fireplace and boardgames for customers and I'd love to see something like that here.

It would be nice to have an affordable-to-rent community art space that had rotating classes/lectures on art, poetry, literature, sustainable living, etc. Someplace to have a local version of Dr. Sketchy's! http://www.drsketchy.com/

Patch Asks: How about you? What would you like to see more of around town? Where do you go for a night out with the adults?

MIke and Anne's has a GREAT bar! And we like Gus's BBQ too. Firefly is also nice.

Thanks for sharing, Kimmy. I have only had lunch at Mike and Anne's; love the patio. .. Firefly is a great place to listen to music and have a beer!
