Dadmissions: The Fun Fair

Confession time: Long before Dadmissions officially lived in South Pasadena I was sponging off this community.  True.  I was a town sponger.  When we lived in Pasadena, we'd venture down Fair Oaks and explore town on the weekends.  We loved it.  One day my wife and I stumbled on the school Fun Fair held annually at the administration building.  It was the cutest thing.  We had a little girl at the time so we stopped by and rode some rides, and played some games, and enjoyed some food.  I think we were so impressed that first year, that we came back again the very next day, non-residents invading town.  We started going every year.  Truth be told, that Fun Fair is one of the reasons we moved to South Pasadena.  I loved the sense of community, the small town feel, the fun time people were having, even the confetti eggs.  OK maybe I hate the confetti eggs.  But let's keep that between us.

Our daughter is now eight and attends Monterey Hills.  That means her school actually benefits from the Fun Fair like the other public schools in South Pas.  My wife is one of the Fun Fair big wigs.  I don't really know what it means except tons of meetings, paper cuts, envelope stuffings, school drop offs, phone calls, emails, more paper cuts, more phone calls, and what will certainly be long hours this weekend.  But it's all for a good cause- our kids.

This year the Fun Fair has extended its hours.  This year the Fun Fair is introducing food trucks will all sorts of things to drool over and enjoy.  Yes we've gone gourmet.  You'll find burgers and fried foods and ice cream and desserts.  This year the Fun Fair still has major raffle prizes, entertainment, and games like the water balloons.  This dad drew the short straw so you can look for me in the morning dodging water balloons at the booth and clinging to my Starbucks cup.  Most of all, the Fun Fair provides a sense of community that brings everyone together.  It provides a sense of community you can't get in other places.  The only thing we need now is YOU.  Come on down this weekend.  Bring the kids.  Bring the grandkids.  Bring folks from outside South Pas and show them what we're all about.  Bring your appetite.   And bring some money.  It's all for a good cause.  Tell me you saw my post in the Patch and you can even get ME with a water balloon or a confetti egg.  No questions asked.
