There's a first time for everything, and for Jon Alvarez, Thursday's South Pasadena Farmers' Market happened to be the first time he decided to play his double bass guitar in the lawns surrounding the South Pasadena Public Library.
The timing might appear a bit strange, given that Alvarez lives just down the street from the library. But then if you were a musician and lived where he does, you probably wouldn't think of busking this close to home too frequently.
