Local Social Media on the Proposed 710 Tunnel Extension

With a recent event in Alhambra, an anti-710 protest in South Pasadena and upcoming public meetings, see the best tweets, status updates, videos and more from local residents and media.

Though the issue of extending the 710 Freeway to meet the 210 or 134 has long been an issue in communities from the San Gabriel Valley to Northeast Los Angeles to Crescenta Valley, the last week has seen a new flurry of discussion of the issue on social media.

That's mostly due to an event in Alhambra this week where the city closed a stretch of Fremont Avenue to promote the extension, a move that opponents of the freeway did not appreciate.

There was also a July 4 demonstration in South Pasadena against the project that drew together opponents from all over local cities.

The activity comes when Metro is about to hold another series of public workshops on possible solutions to traffic congestion in the 710 corridor, part of a state-required environmental review process that is a necessary part of building the tunnel extension.

With all those events in the news recently, it's no surprise that local commenters, media and others are active all over social media.  Above are the best tweets, videos and more from those sources.
