Police Warn of Parcel Thefts in South Pas

South Pasadena Police are reminding residents not to leave unattended packages in their yards, porches or driveways.

Officer Richard Lee, in his weekly crime bulletin, said South Pasadena and surrounding communities have seen a rise recently in parcel thefts. From May 8-14, parcel thefts were reported in the 400 block of Floral Park Terrace and the 1300 block of Via Del Rey. The Floral Park theft, however, occurred in April.

To combat the crime, authorities suggest:

• Pick up packages promptly, or have them left in a inconspicuous place.
•Always get a tracking number so you can track the progress and delivery.·         • Consider having packages delivered to your work, if your employer allows it.       • Consider having the delivery carrier hold the package at their local facility for pick-up. If you must have the delivery shipped to your home, and can’t be home to accept the package, consider having a trusted neighbor sign, or pick it up.

And, as always, report any suspicious activity.
