The fierce foursome of South Pasadena High School has advanced to next week's CIF Track and Field Championships at Buchanan High in Clovis.
Their showing at Friday' s CIF Southern Section Masters Meet qualified Claire Kieffer-Wright, Laura Anuakpado, Kamia Rodil Willis, and Anika Renken for state, the Pasadena Sun reported. Kieffer-Wright, the reigning state high jump champ, ran the lead leg in the 4x400 meter relay, the article states. The foursome finished in fifth place with a time of 3 minutes, 49.23 seconds.
It was enough to propel them to state and that's what they wanted, Renken told the paper.
And although South Pas' Josh Wilson didn’t advance, the article states, the 11th grader scored a new personal-best time of 9:18.04.
