Patch Blog: The Berry Best!

Last week at the South Pasadena Farmer's Market, I was lucky enough to witness the Berry Best Jam Contest.

Happy Fall, Everyone!

Last week at the South Pasadena Farmer's Market, I was lucky enough to witness the Berry Best Jam Contest. The competitors were all local amateur jam makers within our community. Even a couple brave high schoolers entered the competition and took home third prize!

Esteemed community judges and food experts Paul Rosenblum (Firefly Bistro), Bill Disselhorst (Fiore Market Cafe), Suzan Lutz and Eric Knutzen (Master Food Preservers) made the tough call and crowned Shelli Anderson the winner with her Apple Pie Jam.

Emcee, Jim Tavares kept the crowed entertained and giggling with his funny comments and questions. A great time was had by all!

I wanted to share a few photo highlights and include a simple recipe for raspberry jam that you can make at home with fresh raspberries from the Farmer's Market. Enjoy!
