Chinese New Year Celebration at the South Pasadena Middle School

This event is hosted by SPHS Chess Club, and supported by Ms. Melissa Cheng’s Chinese class from SPHS. The event is to be held on Feb 7th, 2013 in South Pasadena Middle School Auditorium, 7:00pm to 8:30pm. The main theme is Chinese New Year Celebration. Most of the performances will come from SPHS students as well as their parents. We also have invited some performing groups to join our celebration such as lion dancing, and Chinese calligraphers.

This is the very first Chinese New Year celebration in our community!  Through this event, the attendees will get to know the culture of Chinese New Year as well as why the Chinese celebrate it every year.   Students who attend this event will be engaged in learning more about Chinese culture beyond the classroom.  Teaching our children cultural diversity is one of our educational missions.

The event will comprise of singing, dance, choir, performed by SPHS students as well as Chinese martial artists.  There will be raffles, prizes including Chinese red envelopes.  Please come join us and support our school event!

Tickets are $3 before January 26th and $5 after.  Tickets can be purchased at the South Pasadena Middle School office.
