Monterey Park Earth Day Bike Ride & Festival

Join us for the City of Monterey Park's annual Earth Day Bike Ride & Festival - Saturday, April 26th!

RIDE DESCRIPTION: This mostly flat -6- mile bicycle ride loops around the City of Monterey Park passing by some of the City's historic landmarks. Bring your family friends and favorite bike. Kids trailers, and fixed gear bicycles allowed.  The ride will be escorted by safety marshals and mobile Pit Stop provided by Bike SGV.  Minimum age rider is 10 years old.

The 17th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival will be held April 26 and 27 at Barnes Park and will feature a fascinating array of Japanese cultural arts, entertainment, food, crafts games and raffles. Among the highlights of the festival are the various renowned taiko drum groups, sumo wrestling and martial arts demonstrations, traditional dance performances, origami and ikebana demonstrations and special musical guests. A family friendly event, the Monterey Park Cherry Blossom Festival includes children’s activity and game areas as well as youth-oriented performance groups. And best of all, admission to the two-day festival is free.

Saturday’s opening ceremonies will feature ABC Channel 7 reporter Alysha del Valle as guest emcee and special recognition of local students from Mark Keppel H.S.’ Academic Decathlon Team. Also honored will be Terry and Ryoko Suzuki, founders of the city’s first sister city organization, the Monterey Park/ Nachikatsuura, Japan association. Other weekend entertainment includes exciting performances by June Kuramoto, Kimo Cornwell, Local Mojo and Miko Shudo.
