Pasadena Community Orchestra Performs American Classics Under New Music Director Bethany Pflueger

In her debut appearance, new Music Director Bethany Pflueger leads the orchestra in works by beloved American composers Aaron Copland and Howard Hanson, as well a Rossini overture. Copland’s Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo have become the instantly recognizable sound of the American West, even showing up in countless TV commercials featuring iconic Western products.  (Remember “Beef: it’s what’s for dinner”?!)  Also familiar from movies, commercials, and cartoons, the lively Overture to the Barber of Seville by Rossini will make you grin. For the second half of the concert, settle in for the rich and lush sounds of the beautiful “Romantic” Symphony #2 by Howard Hanson.  A reception follows the concert, at which audience members will have the opportunity to meet the conductor and the musicians.
