Shakespeare By The Sea Coming to Garfield Park Aug. 13 & 14

SHAKESPEARE BY THE SEA TO PERFORM HAMLET AND
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM AT GARFIELD PARK

At twilight, among the lush green beauty of South Pasadena's Garfield Park, "Something’s rotten in Denmark” as Shakespeare by the Sea (SBTS) unveils the ultimate royal family drama: Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m.

Disturbed by the ghost of his father, the king's despondent son weighs family loyalty and self preservation against his duty to the crown, with tragic results.

The touring company returns to Garfield Park Thursday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. to demonstrate "what fools these mortals be," performing Shakespeare’s delightful celebration of magic and mystique, A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Midsummer's Puck entertains with extraordinary feats of mischief as he mercilessly toys with lovers of all kinds, humans and fairies alike.

Audiences arrive early to enjoy cozy blanket picnic dinners before taking in an evening of free, critically-acclaimed theatrical entertainment.
SBTS concessions and swag are on sale throughout the evening.

Shakespeare by the Sea is a nonprofit organization launched in 1998 by Producing Artistic Director Lisa Coffi. Partnerships with local city organizations enable them to provide summer performances for free.

SBTS has not received any funding from the City of South Pasadena for the past several years, but it continues to include the community among its
22-location tour. Donations are encouraged and sponsors sought to ensure future appearances here.
