Blog: Beloved Actress Valerie Harper, a South Pas Councilman's Stepmom, Stricken with Terminal Cancer

Actress Valerie Harper announced she has terminal cancer, and has only about 3 months to live.

The former star of "Rhoda" has connections to South Pasadena where her , serves on the city council.

Harper has made numerous appearances around town during Cacciotti's many campaigns. She and her husband were always at the councilman's side during his many fundraisers.

On a personal basis, I have known Valerie for many years, meeting her years ago in the organization LIFE (love is feeding  everyone), which she and late actor Dennis Weaver helped found. I was a longtime volunteer for the organization and encountered her numerous times. I always found her to be a down to earth, and friendly person, she had time for everyone. She volunteered for many worthwile causes, and was always kind.

To Michael, we wish you and your family strength in this sad time. We as a community stand behind you, and support you in anyway we can.
