Blog: Longtime City Clerk Will Not Seek Re-Election

City Clerk Sally Kilby decides to retire from her position.

I, like many others, was saddened to hear about city clerk Sally Kilby not running again for her position.

I have known Sally since her arrival in South Pas and have learned to admire and respect her as both a person and as an elected official. I have worked in South Pasadena since 1967  (after serving in the Army) and have seen a  number of city clerks at city hall. Most were effective and did their jobs well, but none stood out like Sally.

I would hate to see how this city would function without her abilities. She is a tireless representative to the people  who elected her, but her asset is not only at city hall. She has gotten involved in almost every endeavor in town as a volunteer, there is not a happening around the city that does not have her presence. She is a lady who does not know how to say no. Nothing happens here without Sally being aware of it.

On numerous occasions I and other local media members have sought her expertise and input about local events. She will be sorely missed by everyone in town and specifically the city leaders that utilize her services. I am hoping she will reconsider (though she is well deserving of the time off).

Sally, thanks your many years of professionalism and friendship!
