Patch Blog: Track Club Formed in South Pas

New athletics club founded by elite coaches.

With the London Olympics less than a week away and the track and field events usually highlighting the athletic spectacle, two top local track coaches—aided by their staff—have formed the "Pyramids Athletic Club Track and Field Team."

Three-time high school 'track coach of the year' PJ Hernandez—along with co-coach CB Richards and their top notch staff—are hosting the camp for youngsters of all ages.

There are 3 divisions: 4th through 8th grade; 9th through 12th grades; and the Elite group of post high school and college students. The camp will teach future and current athletes fundamentals of track and field events on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:45 p.m. at the athletic field.

Some weekend workouts will also take place. The club also plans to host a meet in August after the conclusion of the Olympics. It will be geared primarily to Track and Field but will also offer training groups in soccer, basketball, volleyball, and general strength conditioning for all athletes.

Sign-ups can be done with coach Richards on workout days at the SPHS track.
