South Pasadena Farmers' Market Manager Resigns

Greta Dunlap's departure was "unexpected,'' though officials have declined to comment on why the farmers' market manager resigned Sept. 1.

The South Pasadena Farmers' Market is looking for a new market manager following the "unexpected departure'' of Greta Dunlap, the city's chamber of commerce announced Friday.

Greta Dunlap, with whom the city contracted in May 2010, resigned her position Sept. 1, according to a press release from South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Scott Feldmann.

"I wish her well and I'm sorry she resigned,'' Feldmann told Patch, noting it is a personnel issue and he can not comment further.

An automatic email response from Dunlap, who is the Market Manager for the City of Beverly Hills, said that she is out of the office until Monday.

Dunlap was contracted by the South Pasadena Chamber to manage the market in May of 2010, after the founding market sponsor dissolved, and the city put it out for bid, the press release states. Under Dunlap's tutelage, the market won several “Best Farmers’ Market” awards, and created a better balance of farmers to food vendors, as well as an improved safety layout with widened fire lanes, Feldmann wrote in the release.

“We have a great market, that she indeed helped to build,” Chamber Chairman Steve Dahl said in a prepared statement about the "unexpected departure.''

Until a replacement is found, Feldmann said, the chamber will manage the market with existing staff, farmers and vendors while the search for a new Market Manager is conducted. The contract with the City of South Pasadena to operate the market remains with the Chamber until 2015.

Applicants for the market manager position can find more information on the official website at www.SouthPasadenaFarmersMarket.org.
