SPHS Volleyballs Vandalized; $2,500 in Damages

Forty-eight volleyballs were slashed sometime overnight Wednesday at South Pasadena High School—resulting in $2,500 in damages—according to
The volleyballs were damaged with an "unknown cutting instrument, possibly a box cutter," Sgt. Tony Abdalla told Patch.
There was no forced entry into the school's gym where the volleyballs were stored, he said.
"We don't have any leads in the case yet; they are following up on information provided, looking into who has access to the gym," he said.
The volleyballs were purchased using the school's volleyball budget, which is raised through parent donations, fundraising events, volleyball camps, etc., said the Girls' Volleyball coach Ben Diaz.

The volleyballs will be replaced by the district, according to Diaz. In the meantime, athletes will use older ones available at the school.
