Three South Pasadena High
School students were arrested Wednesday for allegedly breaking into Marengo
Elementary School and stealing five Apple iPads this past weekend, according to
the South Pasadena Police Department.
The students, all 17 years old, committed the alleged burglary in two classrooms at the elementary school sometime over the weekend, SPPD Sgt. Brian Solinsky said in a communiqué.
Police officers investigated the alleged crime Monday afternoon, when several witnesses provided information that led to the arrests of the three students, according to the news statement.
The names of the students were not disclosed because they are minors.
Officers recovered three of the allegedly stolen iPads after contacting the students at the high school and their homes Wednesday, Solinsky said. The remaining two iPads were discarded by one of the students after the alleged burglary, Solinsky added.
Anyone who has information regarding the investigation should contact Det. John Salcido at (626) 403-7284.
