A teacher's aide who was allegedly drunk on a middle school campus in San Jacinto was out on $2,500 bail Friday, pending a court appearance next year.

Kristin Tipps, 45, of Menifee, was booked at the Banning jail on suspicion of possession of liquor on school property and disorderly conduct while under the influence of alcohol, jail records indicate.

Deputies were called about 4 p.m. Thursday to North Mountain Middle School, 1202 E. Seventh St., when they heard about "an Instructional Aide assigned to the school [who] appeared disoriented," sheriff's Sgt. Rose McKinney said in a news release.

"Through the investigation, it was determined that Kristin Tipps... appeared to be intoxicated," the sergeant said.

"This incident occurred while students were not under Tipps' care and control," McKinney added.  "Administrators of the San Jacinto School District were immediately notified of the incident."

District officials acted immediately, following Tipps' arrest, and are conducting their own investigation.

"I can confirm that she has been placed on paid administrative leave," said Diane Perez, assistant Superintendent of Personnel Services.

Someone brought the suspect's behavior to the attention of school administrators, Perez said.

She was ordered back to court March 1, according to Riverside County sheriff's jail records.
