Big Rig Overturns on the Glendale Freeway Wednesday Morning

A big rig tanker driver was hospitalized with non life- threatening injuries today after his vehicle overturned on a hillside below the Glendale (2) Freeway, authorities said.

The 3:30 a.m. accident closed the connector road from the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway to the southbound 2, said California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos. The southbound 2 remained open. The cause of the crash was under investigation.

The tanker was full of milk, some of which flowed into nearby storm drains, authorities said.

Crews worked to offload milk onto another vehicle and remove the wreckage. The transition road remained closed nearly five hours after the crash, the CHP reported.
