A Diamond Bar resident accused of prostitution is preparing for a court appearance.
Xiaosu Xu, 25, was charged with one misdemeanor count of soliciting prostitution. She has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to appear in Alhambra Superior Court on Aug. 23 for a pre-trial hearing, according to court records.
South Pasadena Police arrested Xu in February. Authorities have charged the owner of Massage Villa in South Pasadena, where Xu worked, with disorderly house and prostitution.
Investigators said they conducted several undercover investigations before making the arrests. The businesses’ manager, Ling Ling Kuo, 44, has been charged with running an illegal business. She also pleaded not guilty.
The incident nearly cost the owner the business. City officials had been in discussions to revoke the business license. However, last month, South Pasadena staff reached an agreement with Massage Villa’s ownership. The business license was suspended from July 2 to 6, city officials said.
“Being their first offense, this was considered reasonable barring any further violations of state law or municipal code,” wrote South Pasadena Police Chief Joseph Payne.
The suspension was served and the business has since reopened, Payne said.
