Crime Blotter: Burglary Suspect Rings Doorbell, Makes off with Cash

A South Pasadena resident who did not open the door to a suspicious person still suffered a burglary and the loss of a cell phone and cash, according to a crime report.

The resident told police that on June 11 at about 4 p.m. after ringing the doorbell, an unidentified man walked into the person's back yard. The resident asked the suspect what he was doing and the suspect said he'd been doing work on the resident's bathroom — the resident had not had any work done at the home, the report states.

The suspect left and the resident later discovered damage to the rear gate and items missing from the office: a cell phone, a bag and cash.
