Crime Blotter: South Pasadena Convalescent Hospital Scene of 2 Different Assaults

The South Pasadena Convalescent Hospital at 904 Mission St. was the scene of two separate assaults and arrests over the last last week, according to the South Pasadena Police Department's weekly crime blotter.

Officers responded on Monday at 7:15 p.m. and arrested a 64-year old man after he allegedly kicked and threw a guitar case at another male resident. The man was arrested after it was found he had an outstanding warrant, according to police.

On June 13, officers arrested a 65-year-old female and a 64-year-old female who allegedly got into a fight. The 65-year-old also had an outstanding warrant, according to police.

STOLEN VEHICLE 

7-15-13, 1 AM to 5 AM, 1400 block of Laurel. ’96, Honda Accord. 

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE 

• 7-12-13, 11:27 PM, 2000 block of Empress. ’13, Toyota Tacoma. Officers respond to a vehicle blocking a driveway. Vehicle is found to be stolen from Rosemead. 

• 7-11-13, 1:32 PM, 1700 block of State. ’12, Toyota Camry. Automated License Plate Reader alerts officer on patrol of a stolen vehicle parked on the street. Vehicle is found to be stolen from San Gabriel. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

• 7-4-13 to 7-12-13, 1:30 PM, 1600 block of Fremont (storage locker). Suspect(s) cuts lock to gain entry into storage locker. LOSS: Unknown. 

• 7-10-13, 7:20 AM to 5:35 PM, 1300 block of Huntington (storage locker). Suspect(s) cuts lock to gain entry into storage locker. LOSS: Tools. 

• 7-9-13, 11 PM to 7-10-13, 9:15 AM, 1400 block of Via Del Rey. Suspect(s) enters victim’s unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway and takes a bag. Suspect(s) then enters carport area and takes loss. LOSS: Bicycle. 

COMMERCIAL BURLGARY 

7-13-13, 2 PM to 7-15-13, 1:38 AM, 1000 block of Fremont (US Post Office). Suspect(s) enters post office, then pries open office door to gain entry. LOSS: Mail.

ROBBERY 

• 7-16-13, 1:20 PM, Arroyo/Pasadena. Victim is standing near a block wall when S1 approaches and punches victim in the face. S1 grabs loss from victim’s neck and attempts to take it, but victim grabs S1’s wrist. Victim then sees S1 grabbing his waistband and believes S1 may be reaching for a weapon. Victim let’s go of S1’s hand and S1 grabs loss and runs to a waiting vehicle, driven by S2. LOSS: Necklace. WEAPON USED: Hands and simulated gun. SUSPECT VEHICLE: Older model, silver colored, Ford Mustang. SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: S1 – Male, Hispanic, 20 years, bald, brown eyes, 509, 190-200, wearing a purple colored NFL Minnesota Viking’s jersey, black socks and black sneakers. S2 – Unknown. 

• 7-13-13, 1:38 AM, 1600 block of Fremont. Victim parks in her assigned parking stall and exits vehicle. Suspect approaches and points gun to victim, and demands keys. Suspect then hits victim in the head with the grip of the gun. Victim screams and suspect runs away. LOSS: None. WEAPON USED: Unknown type handgun. SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: Male, Hispanic, 505, 20-30 years, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. 

ASSAULTS 

• 7-16-13, 10:45 PM, 1000 block of Fair Oaks (Ai Restaurant). Suspect and victim are customers inside restaurant and get into an argument. Suspect asks victim to step outside. As victim exits restaurant, suspect jumps on victim from behind and punches victim several times. Suspect is pulled off of victim and suspect enters a vehicle and leaves. SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: Male, White, 35-50 years, 601, 190, bald, beard, wearing a black shirt and jeans. SUSPECT VEHICLE: Gray, 2-door, Honda Accord. 

• 7-15-13, 10:20 PM, 1400 block of Huntington (Barkley). Suspect is a customer and gets into an argument with employee. Suspect throws a glass at employee and knocks glasses and beer bottles off countertop. Patrons stop suspect and suspect leaves restaurant. Officers locate suspect a block away. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, Hispanic, 46 years, Los Angeles. 

• 7-15-13, 8:30 AM, 1000 block of Fair Oaks (Starbucks). Suspect is an ex-employee and returns to speak to manager (victim). Suspect is not allowed to be in store and suspect pushes victim. Suspect exits store and suspect is later arrested. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, White, 50 years, Pasadena. 

• 7-13-13, 10:35 AM, 1000 block of Fair Oaks. Suspect is driving a vehicle and victim is on a bicycle. Suspect and victim get into a road rage incident and suspect exits vehicle. Suspect approaches victim with a steering wheel lock (a Club like device) in hand and raises it above head. Victim then quickly rides away. SUSPECT VEHICLE: Older black SUV. SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: Male, White, 40-49 years, 510, blond hair, with a small child (4-5 years) in car. 

POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA 

7-10-13, 12:04 AM, Hawthorne/Pasadena. Suspect is stopped for a traffic violation and found to have a suspended driver’s license. Suspect is also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Female, Black, 45 years, South Pasadena. 

THEFT 

• 7-15-13, 1:40 PM, 600 block of Mission (Trader Joe’s). Suspect enters store and employee sees suspect hiding loss inside jacket. Employee watches as suspect exits store without paying for loss. Employee chases after suspect and officers locate suspect. LOSS: Food and liquor (recovered). SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, White, 46 years, Pasadena. 

• 7-10-13, 8 PM to 7-11-13, 9 AM, 600 block of Monterey (Methodist Church). Suspect(s) enters storage area and removes loss from (2) air conditioning units. LOSS: Copper parts and tubing. 

• 7-10-13, 12:50 PM, 1100 block of Fair Oaks (UPS Store). Victim accidentally leaves loss on counter and suspect(s) takes unattended loss. LOSS: Wallet. 

• 7-4-13 to 7-10-13, 1400 block of Oneonta Knoll. Suspect(s) takes loss from victim’s front porch. LOSS: Parcel package. 

FALSE INFO TO OFFICER 

7-11-13, 12 PM, Monterey/Milan. Suspect is stopped for a traffic violation and provides a fake name to officer. Suspect’s true identity is found, which reveals suspect having a suspended/revoked driver’s license and an outstanding warrant. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, Hispanic, 24 years, Los Angeles. 

DUI

• 7-13-13, 1:40 AM, 1400 block of Columbia. Suspect is stopped for a traffic violation and found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Female, Hispanic, 59 years, Pasadena. 

• 7-10-13, 3:40 AM, Fair Oaks/Oak. Suspect is stopped for a traffic violation and found to be unlicensed and has an outstanding warrant. Suspect is also found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, Hispanic, 40 years, San Jose. 

DRUNK IN PUBLIC 

• 7-13-13, 1:10 AM, Fremont/Maple. Officers respond to a person passed out on a bus bench. Officers arrive and locate suspect who is found to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, Hispanic, 24 years, Alhambra. 

• 7-12-13, 12:45 PM, 900 block of Fremont. Officers respond to a person lying on the sidewalk. Officers arrive and locate suspect who is found to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself. SUSPECT ARRESTED: Male, White, 40 years, Torrance. 

IDENTITY THEFT/CREDIT CARD/CHECK FRAUD 

• 7-14-13 to 7-16-13, 4900 block of Collis. Suspect(s) steals victim’s mail and alters several checks. Suspect(s) then cashes altered check. 

• 7-1-13 to 7-15-13, 400 block of Garfield. Suspect(s) uses victim’s personal information and rents a vehicle, then fails to return vehicle. 

VANDALISM 

• 7-12-13, 9:40 PM to 9:47 PM, 2000 block of Stratford. Suspect(s) throw egg at victim’s window, cracking it. 

• 7-11-13, 5 PM to 5:45 PM, 1000 block of Fair Oaks (Cookies N Cream). Suspect(s) cut phone line to business.
